College Football Analyst Carl Reed of 247Sports weighed in who he thinks the greatest college football player of all time is in a recent episode on the podcast ‘The Block’. He believes it’s a former Ohio State football player.
Reed stated that his GOAT when it comes to college football is none other than former Ohio State LT Orlando Pace. Pace played in Columbus from 1994-1996. Pace brought home the Outland Trophy in 1996 as well as the Lombardi Trophy in 1995 and 1996. His play in college was good enough to get drafted with No. 1 overall pick in the 1997 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams. Pace played for the Rams from 1997-2008 and the Chicago Bears for 1 season in 2009.
Here’s what made Pace stand out to Reed:
“Most fans that watch football, they wanna talk about guys that touch the ball,” said Reed. “But the greatest college football player of all time is Orlando Pace. Left tackle from Ohio State. The only offensive lineman to ever receive Heisman votes. He didn’t give up a sack, he started every game since his true freshman year. There has not been another offensive lineman like Orlando Pace since he played.”
