Casey Thompson walked as a senior during Nebraska’s Senior Day on Saturday, leading some to question if the QB will be back to play a sixth season at Nebraska.
After spending four seasons at Texas and receiving an undergraduate degree, Thompson transferred to Nebraska in 2022. He’ll receive a Master’s degree next month from Nebraska.
After the game on Saturday, Thompson was asked about the decision to walk as a senior:
“If I happen to be back, I’ll walk again next year,” he explained. Thompson was also asked about his return on senior day, as he has missed the last two games for Nebraska since he was injured in the loss to Illinois. The QB responded, “because of my love for this team and my love of the game, I wanted to come back and play.”

Unfortunately for Thompson, his senior day and potentially last home game of his collegiate career resulted in a 15-14 loss to Wisconsin on Saturday.
Now, Thompson and the Huskers will turn their attention to a Black Friday matchup vs. Iowa.
