Thompson started 10-of-12 games for Nebraska in 2022, missing the Minnesota and Michigan games due to injury. He completed 63% of his passes (173-of-274) for 2,407 yards and 17 touchdowns, along with 5 rushing scores. Thompson became the 5th QB in program history with 3 games of 300 yards passing in a season.
Thompson ended his Nebraska career on a high note. He was 20-of-30 passing for 278 yards and 3 TDs in a win over rival Iowa.
In 4 seasons at Texas (2018-21), Thompson made 19 appearances with 10 starts. He figures to be a sought-after QB in the transfer portal with his starting experience.
Georgia Tech transfer Jeff Sims looks to be QB1 of the Matt Rhule era coming off of a strong spring. Thompson spent spring practice rehabbing from surgery.
Thompson did not announce his transfer portal entry, but appeared to address his future in a social media post Friday morning.
