The 2022 college football preseason is winding down, so the postseason picks are coming out.
The CBS Sports Network crew is getting in on the fun. Three analysts shared their preseason picks for which team will win it all in 2022.
Kevin Carter and Danny Kanell both like Alabama, which has played in the last 2 National Championship games, to win it all in 2022. Brian Jones likes Ohio State to win its first national championship since 2014.
“Offensive firepower and a new DC who’s one of the best in the business overseeing a plethora of talent,” Jones said when making his pick for OSU to win it all.
As Jones stated, Ohio State is expected to have plenty of offensive firepower in 2022. Heisman finalist QB CJ Stroud and WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba return, along with Rose Bowl standout Marvin Harrison Jr. and other talented pass-catchers.
First-year defensive coordinator Jim Knowles has already set top-5 expectations for his Buckeye unit in 2022. Last season, Knowles’ Oklahoma State unit finished No. 4 in total defense (297.9 yards per game) and No. 9 in scoring defense (18.1 points per game). Knowles is now coaching higher-rated players at OSU, which could be a scary thing for Big Ten offenses.
