The Big Ten as a whole went 12-2 overall in Week 1.

By no means was it a disastrous start to the season. Certain teams won tight games, such as Minnesota beating South Dakota State 28-21. It wasn’t pretty, but, the Golden Gophers are 1-0.

For Week 2, Minnesota has to travel to take on Fresno State.

The Bulldogs aren’t ranked. They don’t have national title aspirations. But Fresno State is a quality football program, and at home way out west, Minnesota does have a challenge in front of itself.

CBS Sports Network analyst Ross Tucker broke down what lies ahead of the Gophers:

“What I think is interesting about it is, there are a lot of people predicting Minnesota to take the next step this year. There are a lot of people predicting Minnesota to have a really nice year and maybe even be in the mix in the Big Ten West. They certainly didn’t look like it,” Tucker said. “Maybe they are reading their press clippings a little bit too much, but they are going to have to play a lot better to beat Fresno State out there, because that is not an easy place to play either.”

Minnesota travels to take on Fresno State for a 10:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 7. The game will be televised on CBSSN.
