The popular ‘Chad Powers’ skit involving Eli Manning has been turned into a TV show, and Hulu revealed the release date for the show on Tuesday.
The star of the show this time around will be popular actor Glen Powell, who will serve the role of Russ Holliday. The show centers around Holliday, a disgraced quarterback who disguises himself as the title character to walk-on with a team in an attempt to revive his career.
The show is set for a Sept. 30 debut on Hulu:
Co-stars on the show include Toby Huss, Steve Zahn, Clayne Crawford, Perry Mattfield, Xavier Mills and others. Hulu dropped a brief teaser trailer for the shower earlier this year.
The show is modeled after the prank that Eli Manning, a historic player for Ole Miss, played on Penn State. During the 2022 season, Manning attended a tryout for the Nittany Lions in full wig and makeup to impersonate Chad Powers, drawing wild reactions from those in attendance.
That appearance by Manning ignited social media and quickly went viral with fans from all over loving the bit. Head coach James Franklin even admitted the segment allowed Penn State an important opportunity that allowed fans to “peek behind the curtain” with a bit of personality from the program.
Powell and the production team for the show even appeared at the 2024 game between Georgia and Mississippi State in Athens. A portion of the show was shot at halftime of that game inside Sanford Stadium.
Now, fans will be able to see the character fully brought to life when the show debuts in September.
