Charlie Becker scores 3rd touchdown with 6 minutes remaining in 2nd quarter

Charlie Becker was a big part of Indiana‘s national championship run last season, catching 34 passes for 679 yards and 4 touchdowns to help the Hoosiers go 16-0 and win the program’s first natty.
And the junior wide receiver has picked up right where he left off in 2026. During the Week 1 blowout victory over North Texas, Becker was everywhere, catching 4 passes for 64 yards and 2 touchdowns.
But Becker was busy taking it to a whole different level on Saturday in Bloomington, as Indiana was busy blowing out overmatched Howard. Becker had already piled up 3 touchdown catches and there was still a little over 6 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.
That means Becker had already caught more touchdowns this season, in less than 1.5 games, than he did all of last year, when he was still pretty good.
Becker got started really early on Saturday, catching a 34-yard touchdown pass from Josh Hoover with 12:56 left in the 1st quarter. Then, with 4:16 left in the opening period, Becker was at it again, hauling in a 6-yard scoring toss from Hoover to give IU a 13-0 lead.
After the Hoosiers took a 20-0 lead into the 2nd quarter, Becker completed the TD hat trick of sorts with this 41-yard scoring grab from Hoover with 6:07 left before halftime:
On the 3rd scoring catch, Becker’s perfectly run slant was too much for the Howard secondary, as Becker ran free after the catch and into the end zone to complete a memorable 1st half, which wasn’t even over yet.
