Charlie Jones – a former wide receiver at Iowa – made a huge decision this offseason. He decided to transfer and spend his senior year at Purdue.

Jones played a vital part in the Hawkeyes’ offense last year catching 21 passes for 323 yards and 3 touchdowns, but Jones admitted that it wasn’t enough to keep him around for his senior season and went into more detail as to why he left (Via GoldandBlack.com):

“Came here for the offense, last couple of years they’ve shown that being a receiver in this type of offense gives a lot of opportunities,” he said.

Jones also had a friendship with one of the Boilermaker players who may have had an influence on his decision.

“Also Aidan (O’Connell), we grew up together, played little league together,” explained Jones. “He’s been making big plays since the third grade so really just to have that kind of connection.”

Who could blame Jones for transferring to Purdue?  O’Connell was one of the top quarterbacks in the B1G last season besides CJ Stroud.

O’Connell threw for over 3,700 yards and 28 touchdowns and is just one of the reasons the Boilermakers may make some noise in the conference this year. O’Connell along with Jones may make a deadly combination this season for Purdue.
