Charlie Jones not playing is not a good sign for the Purdue faithful.

Jones was seen holding his ribs and walking gingerly to the locker room following a collision to the ribs in the first quarter of  Saturday’s Week 3 game versus Syracuse.

Purdue was struggling to move the ball even with Jones in the game, but perhaps inspired by their leaders’ departure, the Boilermakers got on the board with a Devin Mockobee 15-yard touchdown rush.

Unfortunately, the Orange blocked the ensuing extra point, which almost led to the elusive 2-point extra point score.

Jones returned to the sideline following his departure in the second quarter.
