Charlie Jones made his presence known against Penn State. This could be the start of a string of great performances for the Iowa transfer.
Jones lit up the Penn State secondary. He finished the game with 153 yards receiving on 12 receptions with 1 touchdown as well. The former Iowa wideout transferred to Purdue back in June.
He knew that his 1st game with the Boilermakers would be important, no matter who they were playing per Brian Neubert of GoldandBlack.com:
“First game is a big game always, no matter who we’re playing,” said Jones. “We didn’t get the outcome we wanted, but it’s nice to be here. We’ve got a long season, so we’re just gonna get back to it tomorrow.”
Jones thinks that he can add a different element to the Purdue offense. He’s focusing on doing the best that he can with the chances he gets in West Lafayette.
“I just think I bring different things to the table,” said Jones. “I can contribute, add to the receiver room, and make plays when the ball’s thrown my way.”
