Chase Young discusses progress in rehab from ACL injury

Chase Young had a strong start to his NFL career while capturing Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020. Unfortunately, his 2021 season was cut short by an ACL injury.
Young started the first 9 games of the 2021 season before his injury and was off to a somewhat slow start. He posted just 1.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 3 TFL just one year after he had 7.5 sacks as a rookie.
Now, Young is back in OTAs for Washington as he tries to work his way back into action. After Wednesday’s practice, he met with the media to discuss his progression in his rehab.
“I’m running. I’ve squatted a substantial amount of weight — I’m not going to put any numbers out there,” Young said in a video shared by NBC Sports Washington. “But everything is going as planned. I’m happy where I’m at and I’m confident on everything I’m doing going forward.”
As for when he might be back, Young said he doesn’t currently have a timeline but will know he’s ready when he feels it.
“It’s just one of those things, I can just tell as I’m getting better,” Young said. “It’s all about feeling and definitely confidence. I think the time I will know, I’m going to get it from just how I feel.”
Hopefully, he’s able to get back early in 2022 while performing at a high level.
