Chase Young is set to make a comeback for the Commanders after season-ending knee injuries kept him off the field in 2021.

The former Ohio State DE will reportedly be activated off the reserved list, which he has been on since last November. Young tore his MCL and ACL in Week 10 against Tampa Bay in the 2021 season.

Although he was expected to miss 4 or possibly 5 games of the 2022 season, Young’s return has been stretched out to Week 12 when the Commanders will face the Texans. Adam Schefter reported the expectation that Young will see his first game action this week.

It’s a huge boost for the Commanders’ defense to have Young back in the lineup. Young was a highly-touted recruit who was expected to make an immediate impact to the defensive line after being selected second overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Prior to his injury, Young was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020 and has recorded 9 sacks in two seasons with Washington. We’ll see if he’s able to make a big impact in 2022.
