Chip Kelly knows all about the aura of Autzen Stadium, having spent 6 years at Oregon from 2007-12.

The 1st 2 of those seasons were as the Ducks offensive coordinator, followed by 4 years as Oregon’s head coach. Yeah, the 60-year-old Kelly knows all about Autzen and Eugene and what awaits No. 2 Ohio State as it ventures west for a Big Ten showdown with No. 3 Oregon on Saturday night.

Kelly is now the offensive coordinator for the Buckeyes, and he has a unique perspective for one of the most anticipated games of the 2024 season, having those deep ties to the Oregon program.

“It’s a special place, and I think it’s great for our players,” said Kelly during Tuesday’s weekly press conference. “A chance for them to play in one of the special places in college football. They came out here a couple years ago to play in the ‘Shoe, we get to go play in Autzen Stadium.”

Kickoff in Eugene will be shortly after 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC, which means it’ll be about 4:30 in Eugene.

“Autzen Stadium at that time of day — it’s truly special,” said Kelly, who went 46-7 during his head coaching tenure at Oregon. “I think our guys are excited. They’re a really good team, that will get your attention right away when you look at the film. … It’s about the game. I’m fired up for our players because it is a special place to play.”
