Chris Holtmann knows Ohio State did not play up to par Thursday night. That was abundantly clear in the 70-67 home loss to Minnesota.

Heading into the game, the Gophers had not won in B1G play with an 0-4 record. Minnesota shot 50% from the field and took advantage of an Ohio State offense that was inconsistent all night long.

The Buckeyes finished the game shooting 37.5% from the field and had just 5 assists compared to 9 turnovers. It was an effort Holtmann admitted was Ohio State’s “poorest offensive game” so far this season.

As for the issues that played out Thursday night, Holtmann believes Ohio State simply needed to play “more connected” on the offensive end of the court. That is what left the head coach of the Buckeyes disappointed in the loss.

Ohio State has now dropped 3 straight games this season, all coming in B1G play. The Buckeyes now face back-to-back road games at Rutgers and at Nebraska moving forward.
