Chris Holtmann and Ohio State are in the midst of a struggle as the Buckeyes have lost 5 straight games.

After Thursday’s loss, Holtmann was asked about Brice Sensabaugh’s role since he previously led the team in scoring for 12 straight games. Holtmann admitted that part of the reason Sensabaugh was put on the bench was to keep him out of foul trouble.

A reporter noted that Sensabaugh led Ohio State even while he was at the top of opponents’ scouting reports. And Holtmann was asked about his potential fear of taking Sensabaugh out of rhythm.

“If that’s what you’d like to say, then feel free,” Holtmann said.

Reporter: “No, I’m asking you, he’s had 2 bad games shooting in a row after leading you in scoring for 12 games in a row.

Holtmann: “I’ve answered the question regarding Brice.”

Reporter: “You haven’t answered the question — my question is do you fear you’ve taken him out of his offensive rhythm by bringing him off the bench the last 2 games?”

Holtmann: “If that’s the case, feel free to write that. I think Brice has battled hard here tonight. We’ll find ways to put him in a better position.”

Sensabaugh on Thursday in the loss to Northwestern played 16 minutes and was 1-for-8 shooting for 4 points, and was also 0-for-4 from 3-point range.
