Chris Holtmann surprises walk-on Harrison Hookfin with scholarship after win for Ohio State

On Sunday, Ohio State basketball improved to 11-4 (5-2 in B1G play) with a 61-56 win over Penn State.

In what proved to be a hard-fought game, EJ Liddell led all scorers with 19 points and added 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks to his performance. Zed Key added 10 points for the Buckeyes.

As Ohio State looks to keep pace in a crowded and talented B1G race, the team added a player on scholarship after the win. Head coach Chris Holtmann surprised walk-on Harrison Hookfin with the news during his locker room speech.

“Everybody has the same responsibility, you’ve got to bring your best every day whether you’re on scholarship or you’re not,” Holtmann explained. “But there’s a guy important to us in this circle that hadn’t yet been on scholarship but he is right now.”

Hookfin originally walked on with the program in January of 2019. After the announcement, Hookfin broke down the victory circle in the locker room:
