Ohio State fans will have to get accustomed to seeing Chris Olave with a new jersey number for the 2020 football season. The Buckeyes wide receiver announced he’ll have a new digit on the uniform next fall.
In two tweets Olave sent out on Monday, the Ohio State rising junior said he’ll no longer be wearing No. 17, and will instead sport No. 2 next season. He has worn the No. 17 jersey during his first two seasons in Columbus.

The No. 17 jersey has been pretty good to Olave through his first two years in Columbus, especially last season. In 2019, the receiver caught 49 passes for 849 yards and 12 touchdowns. As a freshman, Olave hauled in 12 catches for 197 yards and three touchdowns.
Olave has blocked two punts in his career, as well.
We’ll see if the powers from that No. 17 jersey transfer over to his new number.
