Chris Stoll has received the nation’s top honor for long snappers.

Stoll was one of 10 semi-finalists for the Patrick Mannelly Award. The award is named for Patrick Mannelly, who played collegiately at Duke before having a 15-year NFL career with the Chicago Bears.

The Patrick Mannelly Award has been given out annually since 2019. The 1st winner was Notre Dame’s John Shannon in 2019, followed by Alabama’s Thomas Fletcher in 2020, and Pittsburg’s Cal Adomitis in 2021

2022 was Stoll’s 4th season as the primary long snapper for the Nittany Lions. Before the 2022 season, Stoll was voted as a team captain.

While long snapper is an oft-forgotten position, it is vitally important nonetheless. Stoll was quoted as saying, “nobody should know who I am,” because typically long snappers are only named when something goes wrong.
