Chris ‘The Bear’ Fallica had a somewhat surprising pick as he chose Purdue against the spread to defeat Illinois on Saturday. The Illini are 6.5-point favorites as the Boilermaker head to Champaign.
The 5-4 Boilermakers are looking to become bowl eligible this season with an upset of the 7-2 Illini. Although Illinois is favored on Saturday, it’s the Boilermakers that are on a 2-game series win streak. The last Illini win came in 2019, and 2105 before that. But, for Fallica, it’s the run game that will be a factor in a Boilermaker win. On Always College Football, the analyst detailed why he chose Purdue for the win.
“Illinois has been a great story, and their running game and defense has been fine, but that’s not going to be a formula that’s week-in and week out,” Fallica said. “At some point they will need to generate big plays and generate a passing game, and you’re going to face some adversity when you’re in a lot of the games that are kind of shortened in possessions by running the ball.”
Purdue and Illinois will kick off at noon on Saturday.
