Nebraska baseball is heading for the conclusion of a disappointing 2022 season. But on Sunday, Colby Gomes started the scoring vs. Illinois with a big blast.
The Huskers are looking for a series win vs. Illini after dropping their last 5 series. Nebraska has also gone 3-4 so far in the month of May.
Nebraska opened the weekend series against Illinois with an 8-3 loss on Friday. Fortunately, the offense responded with 11 runs and a big win on Saturday.
The offense was also silent over the first few innings Sunday and into the 3rd inning. The Illini nearly got out of a bases-loaded jam, but Gomes delivered.
With 2 outs, Gomes drilled a grand slam to dead center for his 6th home run of the season:

That game has since been in a lightning delay in Champaign with play paused in the bottom of the 3rd inning.
