Colin Cowherd: ‘God Justin Fields looked good’

Anyone who watched the Ohio State 52-17 thumping of Nebraska last weekend saw Justin Fields at his best.

Widely regarded as a Heisman Trophy candidate, much of the argument for Fields’ contention for college football’s highest prize is his efficiency. With just one interception in all of 2019 prior to the College Football Playoff, it appears he’s not planning to slow down in 2020.

With 20 throws against the Huskers, Fields boasted a 95% completion rate, this in his first game in nearly ten months.

The performance did not go unnoticed.

FOX Sports radio host Colin Cowherd didn’t hesitate giving his take.

“For the record, Justin Fields….oh man,” Cowherd said. “That guy is….these young quarterbacks. It is Burrow and Kyler Murray and Justin Herbert. We all know Trevor Lawrence is great. Justin Fields. He could’ve easily sat this year out. I’m glad he didn’t. He’s got a great arm, he is throwing missiles all over the field. I don’t know who the quarterback coach is, I’ll go to a media guide, but he looks so much more confident than last year. He looks unbelievable….God Justin Fields looked good.”

Now we clearly can’t expect Fields to complete 95% of his passes in a game again in 2020. But if his display of efficiency in the season opener is any indication of what’s ahead this season, Big Ten defenses are sure to have their hands full, as is expected.
