The college basketball rankings are getting updated for the week of Jan. 16 with a fresh AP Top 25 dropping on Monday. While the top 4 of the poll remained unchained, there was a significant shakeup throughout the top 25.
Houston headlined the poll in the top spot with 34 first-place votes. Kansas landed at No. 2 with 23 first-place votes while Purdue at No. 3 landed the remaining first-place votes (3).
The rest of the poll was not a good sign for the B1G. The conference landed just one other team in the top 25 with Rutgers rising up to No. 23 with back-to-back wins and a 5-2 record in B1G play.
The conference did land 5 teams in the “others receiving votes” section with Illinois the best in that group with 61 votes. Indiana was not featured.
