The Week 1 action is in the books, and CBS Sports expert Jerry Palm has gone big with his latest bowl season projections.
In Palm’s latest bowl projections, he included the usual suspects of Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia in his field for the College Football Playoff. However, he elevated Oklahoma – in Brent Venables’ first season as head coach – to the No. 4 spot.
Clemson and Texas A&M would be the first two teams out of the Playoff. USC – in Lincoln Riley’s first season – is projected to miss the Playoff but play in the Cotton Bowl.
In the B1G, Palm has 11 teams advancing to the postseason, all the way from Ohio State to Nebraska. Indiana, Illinois and Rutgers are the 3 teams from the B1G not expected to reach the postseason.
Here is where Palm expects the B1G to play in the postseason:
Iowa
- Duke’s Mayo Bowl vs. Pittsburgh
Maryland
- Birmingham Bowl vs. South Alabama
Michigan
- Rose Bowl vs. Utah
Michigan State
- Music City Bowl vs. Kentucky
Minnesota
- Pinstripe Bowl vs. Wake Forest
