The new NIL legislation has opened up opportunities for players across the country to profit on their appeal. Now, it’s a Clemson quarterback who’s cashing in.

Clemson’s D.J. Uiagalelei is partnering with Dr. Pepper for commercials in the “Fansville” series, according to 247Sports.

Uiagalelei also recently signed a deal with Bojangles and there’s bound to be a variety of other possibilities for the quarterback of a prominent program.

Uiagalelei explains why the Dr. Pepper deal was enticing and that these NIL deals won’t sidetrack him from his goals on the field.

“I want to do stuff that’s relatable to me,” Uiagalelei said to 247 Sports. “I’ve loved Dr Pepper my whole life, so it’s a no-brainer. I knew I would love to do it. The main thing is that you don’t want NIL stuff to get in the way. I’m a student-athlete, so the first thing for me is the school, and then it’s football, and then NIL is pushed to my off time.”

Uiagalelei will have the spotlight on him as he follows in the footsteps of Trevor Lawrence, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Last season, Uiagalelei amassed 914 yards and nine total touchdowns in his appearances.

Clemson kicks off the season on Sept. 4 with a primetime matchup vs. visiting Georgia.
