College football referee hit by cannon blast during game

Mark this down as an unusual college football circumstance.

A recent video has surfaced, showing a college football official getting hit in the face by a cannon blast during a recent game in Maine. The matchup featured Maine Maritime Academy and Massachusetts Maritime Academy, a game played for the Admiral’s Cup at the Division III ranks.

Per a report from NEWS CENTER Maine, Maine Maritime traditionally blasts a cannon after the team scores a tradition. One of the school’s alums, however, decided to bring his own cannon and blasted it with an official right in front of the shot.

The official grabbed his face and fell to the ground and needed to be assisted off the field. The official was then taken to the hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
