College GameDay took matters into its own hands and shared what a 12-team College Football Playoff would look like this season.
Fans will have to wait until next year for the format to become official, but that won’t stop GameDay from giving them a preview of what it could look like this season.
In the top four, Georgia, Michigan, Florida State and Washington would receive byes in the 12-team Playoff format. No. 12 Ole Miss and No. 12 Utah would also be the first teams out in this format.
Here are what the first-round matchups would look like in the new 12-team format:
- No. 19 Air Force at No. 3 Ohio State
- No. 9 Alabama at No. 8 Oregon
- No. 11 Oregon State at No. 6 Oklahoma
- No. 10 Penn State at No. 7 Texas

Georgia and Alabama would be the only SEC teams in the playoff. Meanwhile, the B1G would get 3 teams in with the Pac-12 also getting 3 teams in. Air Force — an academy school — would get in as a Group of 5 representative.
Alabama facing Oregon in a first-round game is certainly intriguing, as would a Penn State trip to face Texas.
