Colorado starting quarterback JT Shrout is expected to miss a significant amount of time after suffering a serious injury during fall camp.
That will obviously impact Minnesota’s nonconference matchup with the Buffs, which is set for Sept. 18.
Per Karl Dorrell, JT Shrout’s MRI has revealed a significant injury that will require surgery.
Dorrell is uncertain if Shrout will by able to return by season’s end.

Shrout is a Tennessee transfer who arrived on campus earlier this offseason. Last year for the Vols, Shrout completed 24-of-42 passes for 315 yards, 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
Colorado’s depth chart behind Shrout is young and inexperienced. The most experienced is redshirt freshman Brendon Lewis, who was a 3-star prospect in the class of 2017. He was the No. 17 overall dual threat QB in the class, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
With JT Shrout injured, Colorado’s QB depth chart is:
1 – Brendon Lewis, freshman
2 – Drew Carter, true freshman
3 – Jordan Woolverton, true freshman walk-on #cubuffs— Brian Howell (@BrianHowell33) August 16, 2021
