Kevin Warren’s first eight months on the job as the B1G commissioner has been incredibly challenging. The newly appointed leader has been forced to navigate through a pandemic with such little on-the-job training.
Still, Warren has done an incredible job of making important decisions and attempting to weather the storm through such unprecedented times. And, after the difficult decision to cancel all nonconference games this year, he and other B1G administrators have finally released a revised, B1G-only schedule for the 2020 football season.
That schedule was released on Wednesday morning, giving fans hope towards the college football season starting. The plan is still for games to begin on Thursday, Sept. 4, though there will be additional bye weeks and some other tweaks to the schedule.
After releasing the schedule, Warren sat down with Big Ten Network to talk about what went into creating a new schedule and the prospect of playing football in 2020. While it’s still far from certainty, Warren says he feels comfortable with testing protocols and health and safety guidelines that are in place.
Below is the interview with Warren and BTN:
"What went into the decision was to afford us the best possible opportunity to be as flexible as we possibly can."
