As Ohio State was mounting a comeback vs. Oregon on Saturday afternoon, it caught a bad break from of the officiating crew.

Chris Olave caught a pass on 3rd and 20 and took a hard hit from Oregon’s Noah Sewell. Sewell appeared to lead with the crown of his helmet, which leaves him susceptible to a targeting call.

However, officials ruled that it was a clean hit. Ohio State punted on the next play.

According to Joel Klatt, replay officials told FOX’s broadcast booth that the play was looked at but was ruled to be clean.

FOX rules analyst Mike Pereira disagreed, saying he would have called it as targeting. If that would have happened, Ohio State’s drive would have continued and Sewell would have been ejected from the contest.

“I do think you have the potential of a targeting penalty,” Pereira said. “To me, this is targeting”

Ohio State has been trailing for most of this game, but the Buckeyes have fought back in the second half. OSU is 9-0 all-time vs. Oregon.
