Cormani McClain might be having second thoughts. The nation’s top cornerback in the class of 2023 is holding off on his National Letter of Intent to the University of Miami… For now.
McClain, out of Lakeland, FL, was originally committed to Florida before flipping to the Hurricanes back in late October. It was a big moment for head coach Mario Cristobal at the time, whose work on the recruiting trail has given the Canes one of the top classes in this year’s cycle.
How surprising was McClain’s late decision to delay his signing to the Hurricanes? McClain’s school had a cake made and a spot saved for his signing ceremony Wednesday morning.

But now, Cristobal might have to deal with Deion Sanders. Coach Prime is now at Colorado after a successful stint at FCS Jackson State. Hard to blame McClain for not picking up the phone when one of the greatest players in the sport calls. It would be a massive flip for Sanders to get him, who could also be in play for former No. 1 corner Travis Hunter. Imagine that tandem in Boulder.

For now, hold the candles in Coral Gables. Deion Sanders might be blowing out your wishes.
