Corey Patterson is looking to accelerate the rushing game even more with players like freshman Aidan Laughery.
Patterson thinks Laughery could get some playing time in the backfield this season. Laughery should get some learn some valuable lessons this season, whether that’s through good or bad experiences per Jeremy Werner of 247Sports:
“I think we’ll see that happen for him this year, and I think it’s going to be something that’s invaluable for him,” Patterson said. “It’s going to be crazy for him. I think he’s a guy that once he feels it, he’ll make some plays too.”
Illinois currently has the 27th-rated rushing offense in the nation, averaging 224 rushing yards per game. It is also the fifth-ranked rushing offense in the B1G.
Laughery is a three-star prospect from the 2022 recruiting class. He was the 43rd-rated athlete and the 12th-best prospect from the state of Illinois, according to the 247Sports Composite.
