‘Creating chaos’: Ex-Michigan DC Don Brown shares method behind his madness at Arizona

Don Brown is now at Arizona, and it sounds like he is having quite the preseason camp with the Wildcats.
The ex-defensive coordinator for Michigan was a long-time assistant for Jim Harbaugh. Unfortunately, the defense failed in some big games and never put a full season together under Brown’s watch, leading to his removal after 2020.
In January, Jedd Fisch and Arizona announced that Brown was being hired to coach the defense of the Wildcats. And on Saturday, he shared some insight into how he runs his practices leading up to the season.
“If you notice something, I’m fairly verbal on the field,” said Brown. “All I’m doing is creating chaos. If they can’t handle the chaos on the practice field – ‘Oh, coach is yelling at me!’ How are they going to handle playing on Saturday?”
After that, Brown was asked if he plans on coaching from the booth or on the field. While his answer was elaborate, it sure sounds like he will be coaching from the field:
“If I was in the booth, I’d probably be scaling the booth to the ground,” Brown explained. “I’ve tried that once, didn’t work so well for me. I think I made it through a quarter and had to come down.”
Here’s the full clip from his Saturday comments:
