Dakorien Moore, one of Oregon football’s top wide receivers, suffered an injury in practice this week. It’s ‘uncertain’ if he will play against Iowa, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel Saturday afternoon.

The true freshman wide receiver is Oregon’s top pass-catcher; he’s totaled 28 receptions for 443 yards and 3 touchdowns this season and was the Ducks’ leading receiver in their win over Penn State.

It goes without saying that it’ll be a major blow if Moore is unable to go against Iowa. The Ducks offense is going to need all the advantage it can get against an Iowa defense that thrives at dominating the tempo and style of any game.

Oregon has flown under the radar a bit this season because the Ducks really can’t boast a great win. Yet, that is. The Ducks beat Penn State, but the Nittany Lions have looked terrible ever since, putting the strength of that win into a bit of question in the eyes of the committee. The only other game Oregon has played against a worthy opponent was their loss to Indiana on October 11 — unless you count Oregon’s win over Northwestern early in the year.

Which is why this is such a crucial spot for the Ducks, which came in at No. 9 in the first College Football Playoff top 25 of the season, released last Tuesday. Iowa’s offense is much improved from years’ past, and the Hawkeyes defense, as mentioned above, is excellent at making life hell for opponents.

Add in the fact that Oregon has to travel across the country to play the Hawkeyes at Kinnick Stadium, and it’s not difficult to see why this will be a major test. Kickoff for Oregon at Iowa is set for 3:30 p.m. on CBS.
