Dan Lanning has high praise for one of his upcoming opponents.

The Oregon Ducks, fresh off a Week 1 victory over Idaho, will play the Boise State Broncos in Week 2.

Ahead of that matchup, Lanning praised Ashton Jeanty, calling him “the best running back” he’s seen since he’s been at Oregon.

That praise is certainly warranted.

In a Week 1 matchup against Georgia Southern, Jeanty took 20 carries for 267 yards and a whopping 6 touchdowns. Jeanty easily leads the FBS in yards and TDs through Week 1 and is a player worth game-planning for.

The star RB also dominated in 2023. Jeanty racked up 1,347 yards and 14 TDs on 220 carries last season and also caught 43 passes for 569 yards and 5 TDs. Now, the RB is a full-blown star and is hoping to help the Broncos make the expanded College Football Playoff as the Group of 5 representative,

The Ducks, meanwhile, are looking for a bounce-back game after a disappointing Week 1 performance. The Ducks escaped with a 24-14 win, but nobody expected FCS Idaho to make it that close.

One bright spot from that game was Jordan James. The Ducks RB took 15 carries for 95 yards and 1 TD in the win.

The Ducks and Broncos will kick off from Eugene on Saturday, September 7 at 10:00 p.m. ET. With a win, the Ducks will add a quality victory to their resume and will continue on the path to another CFP appearance.
