Dan Lanning has hilarious reaction to Dakorien Moore’s vicious pancake block

Dan Lanning gave reporters more than a chuckle during his postgame press conference after one of his Oregon players gave a Montana State player more than a typical block in Saturday night’s season opener.
The No. 7 Ducks flattened Montana State, 59-13, in the lopsided opener in Eugene, so there were many plays that stood out for Oregon as it got its 2025 campaign off to a flying start. But one play in particular drew the attention of reporters afterward.
It came during the third quarter, when senior wideout Gary Bryant Jr. caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Dante Moore to give Oregon a 45-6 cushion midway through the period. That might not seem like a big deal, but the touchdown was a big deal because of what fellow wideout Dakorien Moore did on the play. While Bryant was streaking untouched to the end zone, the freshman Moore was making some serious contact with a Montana State player, performing a pancake block that’s usually reserved for big offensive linemen.
The play caught everyone’s attention, and when Lanning was asked by reporters about it, he had a response that caught everyone’s attention.
“I’m really proud of that play. He’s blocking the wrong guy, but he’s blocking his ass off,” said coach Dan Lanning as laughter filled the room. “That’s what’s exciting. We can make full-speed mistakes and still do an unbelievable job for our team. Dakorien’s going to be a really special player for us. I don’t think anybody’s surprised.”
