Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks were able to get a huge win this past Saturday, as they defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes by a score of 32-31.
The Ducks hadn’t quite looked like the team everyone thought they would be in the preseason, but this was a reminder to college football that they are a national title contender. What made the win even more impressive for Oregon was that it won the game despite not having star defensive lineman Jordan Burch.
The senior defensive lineman missed the game with a lower body injury, and Lanning said on Monday it is still unknown when Burch will be back.
“Continue to evaluate it for him,” Lanning said. “Want to do what’s best for him. I do anticipate us being able to use Jordan again, but I don’t know that that will be this week. I don’t know that it won’t, so we’ll keep evaluating that and see what it looks like.”
Burch has been the best defensive lineman throughout the early part in the season, as he leads Oregon with 5 sacks. In the game two weeks ago against Michigan State, he had 4 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
Even while missing Week 7, Burch still remains tied for the Big Ten lead in total sacks this season. He is also 5th in the league with 7 TFLs as a game-changing piece for the Duck defense.
It is a short week for the Ducks, as they are back in action on Friday night at Purdue. Kickoff is at 8:00 p.m. ET and the game will be aired on FOX.
