David Braun has shed his interim tag and is now Northwestern’s head football coach moving forward.
On Thursday as Braun was being officially introduced, he made a comment that really stands out. He told reporters that he’s not really interested in putting his stamp on the Wildcats program. Instead, he insists that it’s the players program.
His job is simply to makes decisions “in the best interest of our student-athletes.”
Braun on making it his program:
“It’s not about putting my stamp on it. At the end of the day, it’s not my program. It’s the players’ program.”
What does a Braun program look like? “I don’t know.” He just wants to make decisions “in the best interest of our student-athletes.”

The work Braun has done this year is noticeable. The Wildcats, who had their head coach fired just before the start of the season and were projected to finish last in the league, currently sit at 5-5 on the year, just 1 win away from bowl contention with 2 games to go.
They’re also tied for 2nd place in the B1G West with wins over Wisconsin, Maryland and Minnesota.
