The other Ohio State head coach with all those Big Ten titles should be the one getting all the NFL attention and not Urban Meyer. This is the line of thinking from one ESPN analyst who believes that Ryan Day is an attractive coach for the NFL.

Day leads No. 3 Ohio State against No. 1 Alabama this Monday in the College Football Playoff Championship.

Meyer is being strongly linked with NFL head coaching positions, most notably the Jacksonville Jaguars. With the most salary cap space in the NFL and holding two first round picks (including the first overall pick), the Jaguars are a prime job. But David Pollack thinks that the NFL isn’t well-suited for Meyer, who has won three national championships, his last one being at Ohio State in 2014.

“I wouldn’t do Urban Meyer,” Pollack said on ESPN according to 247Sports. “I just think he leads too much like a dictatorship. I don’t think NFL guys would love that. His offensive system is a lot of running the QB — I don’t think it’s good enough for the NFL.

“I think it’s Ryan Day. By the way, Ryan has spent a lot of time in the NFL with Chip Kelly. He’s a no-nonsense guy but treats everyone with a great demeanor, great respect and trusts everybody. His offensive pedigree, the way he calls plays and the way he treats people I think would translate really well to the next level.”

Pollack is a former All-American linebacker at Georgia who spent two seasons in the NFL. He is a highly-popular analyst now for ESPN.

In his third year at Ohio State, Day is 23-1 with the Buckeyes and his team has never finished worse than No. 3 in the final AP Top 25 Poll. He is 1-1 in bowl games including a 29-23 loss to Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl last season.

Meyer currently works as an analyst for FOX.

Day’s Buckeyes won the Big Ten Championship Game over Northwestern then beat Clemson this year in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff to set-up Monday night’s game.
