Deion Sanders has been officially announced as the next head coach for the Colorado Buffaloes.
Sanders had been at the helm for the Jackson State Tigers since 2020, leading the program to a 27-5 record over that span. Sanders also won the SWAC conference 2 times and received 2 SWAC Coach of the Year awards.
Sanders will take over a Colorado program that struggled mightily in 2022, finishing 1-11. That mark was the Buffaloes’ worst since the 2012 season.
AD Rick George has named COACH PRIME @DeionSanders to be the 28th full-time head football coach at CU.

After starting 2022 out 0-5, Karl Dorrell was fired as the head coach. In 3 seasons in Boulder, Dorrell collected an 8-15 record with the team.
Sanders will immediately spark interest in the Colorado program and will help in the recruiting department. Sanders received notoriety for landing a 5-star prospect at an HBCU school, which is a rare occurrence.
The administration at Colorado is certainly hoping that Coach Prime can restore their program as effectively as he did with Jackson State.
