DeMeco Ryans says he’s still gushing over CJ Stroud: ‘An outstanding young man’

DeMeco Ryans still loves CJ Stroud and the former Ohio State quarterback continues to make a positive impression on his new coach with the Houston Texans.

“You just continue to grow more and more in love with the guy, of who he is as an outstanding young man,” Ryans said. “Smart guy, competitive guy, excited to start working with him.”

Stroud wasn’t the only talented player the Texans selected in the draft. They made a trade for the chance to draft Alabama linebacker Will Anderson Jr. And Anderson was the top-rated player on the Texans’ draft board for most of the offseason — ahead of (Bryce) Young, (C.J.) Stroud and every other quarterback available, according to a report from ESPN.

Stroud was widely viewed as one of the top 2 quarterbacks in this draft class. Stroud was a 2-year starter at Ohio State, and he had a decorated college career in which he passed for 8,123 yards with 85 touchdowns and 12 interceptions as the Buckeyes went 21-4. His 85 touchdowns over 2 seasons broke a B1G record held by Purdue’s Drew Brees.
