The demolition of Kinnick Stadium’s north end zone has officially started.

Monday, The Gazette shared images of the demolition, stating that it had started earlier this month as the University of Iowa begins a renovation project to that area of its football stadium.

In 2016, the announcement was made that the stadium would receive a massive renovation. Demolition of the north end zone was one of the first steps in the process.

While renovations include a better concourse area, improvements to restrooms and a new video board, the north end zone is going to be completely revamped. There be upper and lower bowl seating, two concourses and a premium club level.

In total, the renovation project will cost $89 million. It is expected to be completed in time for the 2019 season.
