Desmond Howard explains why Indiana should be No. 1

Desmond Howard, a College GameDay host and former Michigan Wolverines standout, doesn’t think Ohio State should be the No. 1 team in the country. There’s no bias included in this assessment in any way, shape or form.
Jokes aside, Howard does make a decent point, and there’s certainly an argument that Curt Cignetti’s squad is the best team in college football. The College Gameday host pointed out that Indiana football should be No. 1 specifically based on their strength of resume.
The Hoosiers have demolished just about every team they’ve played and boast wins over Oregon, Illinois and Iowa — not to mention, Indiana also beat a surging UCLA squad by 50 last week. That’s no small feat.
Here’s a look at Howard’s argument on College GameDay:
Of course, we may get a glimpse at which squad is ahead of the other in a bit over a month. Ohio State and Indiana are the only undefeated Big Ten teams remaining, with the Hoosiers sitting at 5-0 in conference play and Ohio State at 4-0.
Oregon, Iowa, Michigan and USC are all in the running as well, but the Buckeyes and Hoosiers are definitely the favorites to meet in the Big Ten Championship game when the regular season is up.
Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves, though. First things first, Ohio State has to beat Penn State and Indiana has to dispatch a decent Maryland squad in Week 10.
