There were mostly positive vibes swirling around social media when the B1G released its revised schedule for the 2020 college football season. An increased optimism about playing football in the fall swept across the Midwest.

But one longtime B1G reporter still isn’t convinced a season is happening.

Teddy Greenstein of the Chicago Tribune made an appearance on the Paul Finebaum Show on SEC Network on Wednesday. He was a guest on the program hours after the conference revealed its 10-game, conference-only slate for the fall, scheduled to begin on Thursday, Sept. 5.

Greenstein believes that the B1G is simply delaying the inevitable.

“I will be shocked if there’s any B1G football, let alone on that first Saturday [in September],” Greenstein said on the show.

There have been varying levels of optimism regarding the upcoming college football season. With the B1G increasing the number of bye weeks and creating more flexibility with the 2020 football schedule, there’s an increasing confidence that a season can be played.

Greenstein just isn’t one of those individuals.

With the B1G’s announcement on Wednesday and fall camp proceeding as planned with fall camp, it will likely be late August or September until the conference decides to make a final decision on the season. But, for now, the league is moving forward with the hope of playing football.
