Though his name has been tied to the Los Angeles Lakers, Juwan Howard is reportedly planning to stick around Michigan for at least a few more years.
Josh Henschke of Rivals.com reported that “coaching his sons is a priority” for Howard at Michigan. That could eliminate any sort of speculation about the head coach’s interest in the job in L.A.
I see Juwan Howard is the subject of new NBA links, we’re going to be doing this same song and dance every off-season? I’d be shocked if anything came of it. For now, I’m told coaching his sons is a priority.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported earlier in the week that Howard was rumored to be a candidate to land the job with the Lakers. The franchise recently parted ways with previous head coach Frank Vogel.
Next season, Howard will have sons Jace Howard and Jett Howard both on the roster. Jace will be a junior while Jace is a member of Michigan’s 2022 recruiting class.
Howard has been the head coach at Michigan for the past three seasons. He’s guided the Wolverines to a B1G regular season title (2020-21) and back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. Michigan has reached the Sweet 16 in consecutive seasons, as well.
Michigan has compiled a 61-32 record during Howard’s three seasons with the program.
