It didn’t take long for an NFL player to be ejected from a game during the 2020 season.
During the first half of Sunday’s Chicago Bears-Detroit Lions matchup in Week 1, Lions linebacker Jamie Collins was flagged and tossed after making contact with an official. Many have described the move as a “headbutt,” but it was hardly vicious in intent.
Below is the video of Collins making contact with the official. Throwing him out of the game, especially in the season opener, seems a bit excessive:

If that’s grounds for ejection, then players are going to need to be awfully careful maneuvering around officials this year.
Collins is in his eighth season in the NFL, but first year with the Lions. He was credited with three tackles and a QB hit before being tossed from the game.
