Detroit Lions update TJ Hockenson’s status after being removed following scary fall

It looks like T.J. Hockenson is going to be okay after a scary incident in Sunday’s Detroit Lions game.

The former Iowa standout and rookie tight end was initially injured when he tried to hurdle a Kansas City Chiefs defender. Unfortunately, he was caught in the air between two defenders and spun around before slamming into the ground.

Hockenson was down on the turf for a while before being helped up and carted off the field. He would not return to action.

Fortunately, Lions head coach Matt Patricia updated Hockenson’s status after the game and it appears that he will be okay. According to Kyle Meinke with MLive, the injury was not serious enough to warrant a trip to the hospital. Patricia also said Hockenson was in good spirits after the game:

“He was in great spirits,” coach Matt Patricia said “His mom and dad are here. It was good. We’ll just see how it goes.”

“We’ll just go through everything as far as that’s concerned,” Patricia said, “but I did get him to smile when he finally sat up, so that was a good ending and made me feel a little better. But just those, you know, you don’t like to see those at all.”

Hopefully, Hockenson truly is okay and will be alright moving forward.
