Devin Brown was the backup quarterback for Ohio State in the early portion of the season after Kyle McCord landed the starting job during training camp. However, Brown was also used in a short-yardage package with the offense before an injury against Penn State.

Brown has not seen action since that game on Oct. 21, but Ryan Day revealed the QB could be back in action for The Game. During his Wednesday radio show, the head coach said Brown’s practice reps have gone up and he’s likely to be available.

“Devin is practicing much more this week. I think he’ll be available this week,” said Day per Eleven Warriors.

This season, Brown is 12-for-22 in the passing game with 197 yards, 2 touchdowns, an interception and has rushed for 35 yards with a touchdown. He played well in a win over Purdue and was being used near the goal line against Penn State at the time of his injury.

In place of Brown, Lincoln Kienholz has served as the backup QB. The true freshman has gone 4-for-5 with 25 yards in that limited action, and Day said the QB will get the benefit of more practice reps in the coming weeks.

“The more he plays, the better he’ll be moving forward,” said Day.
