Former Nebraska RB Devine Ozigbo is making a case to be on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Week 1 roster with his play on Sunday.

Ozigbo had a few plays that may determine if he makes the roster on Tuesday afternoon. Ozigbo had a run, breaking tackles and scampering for a first down.

Later in the drive, he punched it for a Jaguars score. The Jaguars went on to beat the Dallas Cowboys 34-14 on Sunday afternoon.

Ozigbo was an undrafted free agent in 2019 and signed with the New Orleans Saints before being claimed by  the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019.

For the Jaguars, Ozigbo played in 8 games in 2020, where he was primarily utilized in the passing game. He had 9 receptions for 42 yards on 4.7 yards per reception.

The former Husker RB may have an excellent chance to make the roster with 1st round draft pick  RB Travis Etienne from Clemson out for the year with a foot injury and has been put on the Injured Reserve list.

Nebraska football’s Twitter account acknowledged his touchdown on Sunday:

Ozigbo, in 4 years with the Huskers, had 2,196 yards, 5.2 yards per carry and 21 touchdowns. He had 49 receptions for 488 yards on 10 yards per reception.

The Jacksonville Jaguars open the season Sunday, Sept. 12, at the Houston Texans.
