College basketball legend Dick Vitale revealed his All-America teams in a story for ESPN this week, and it’s loaded with Big Ten talent.
Vitale picked five All-America teams, and there was plenty of Big Ten representation.
Here are his Big Ten selections:
First Team
Luka Garza, Iowa Hawkeyes
Ayo Dosunmu, Illinois Fighting Illini
Second Team
Trayce Jackson-Davis, Indiana
Third Team
Kofi Cockburn, Illinois
E.J. Liddell, Ohio State
Fourth Team
Hunter Dickinson, Michigan
Fifth Team
Marcus Carr, Minnesota
Aaron Henry, Michigan State
Vitale also picked two Big Ten representatives for major awards. He selected Luka Garza as his National Player of the Year and Juwan Howard as his Coach of the Year.
Garza was outstanding for Hawkeyes this season, averaging 23.8 points per game. He’s the consensus pick to be National Player of the Year and was officially named Big Ten Player of the Year earlier this week.
Howard did an outstanding job navigating the Wolverines to the Big Ten regular season championship. He also successfully navigated a lengthy COVID-19 absence. Howard is in his second season in Ann Arbor, but was arguably the most impressive coach in the country this season.
Selection Sunday is on March 14.
