Illinois will be a little thinner at wide receiver on Monday afternoon for the Redbox Bowl contest against Cal.

Just before kickoff, Isaac Trotter of Illini Inquirer tweeted out that wide receiver Caleb Reams will miss the Redbox Bowl on Monday. According to the report, Reams did not travel with the team due to a violation of team rules. Specifics were not revealed about the situation.

This will be Illinois’ first postseason appearance since 2014.

With Josh Imatorbhebhe out as well, Illinois has five healthy and available receivers for the Redbox Bowl. Reams had 10 catches for 108 yards this season.

Reams missed the first seven games of the 2019 season with a foot injury. When he came back, he was able to make a quick impact. He had his top performance against Northwestern in the season finale, hauling in five receptions for 57 yards.

Illinois is 6-6 and will play Cal.
